Artisan Made Tile – Midnight Cowboy Patina

Bring the bold contrast and dramatic character of fire-aged copper into your space with these handmade copper-plated tiles. Each copper sheet is put through our unique alchemical patina process using carefully curated organic compounds, heat, time, and hand-applied techniques to transform the copper surface, creating a rich combination of burnished copper, fiery orange, antique bronze, deep umber, espresso brown, charcoal, and rich black.

This patina features a dramatic, high-contrast appearance, with deep black and charcoal oxidation breaking apart to reveal brilliant copper underneath.  The contrast gives the surface the appearance of fire-scorched metal, blackened bronze, antique copper cookware, forge-fired steel, and copper slowly emerging from beneath layers of dark oxidation. 

This palette works especially well in industrial, rustic, Old World, lodge, contemporary, modern, farmhouse, and luxury interiors, pairing beautifully with reclaimed wood, natural stone, concrete, leather, black cabinetry, dark woods, and other warm metals.

The handcrafted patina develops differently across every tile, producing natural variations in color, texture, and pattern. No two pieces are exactly alike. When installed together, these variations create a dramatic surface with the depth and movement of naturally weathered copper.

Each tile is hand-hammered smooth around the edges, giving the piece a subtly worked, artisan finish. Finally, the surface and edges are sealed with a clear epoxy coating, preserving the patina underneath and giving it a durable, finished surface while enhancing the copper, bronze, amber, and deep brown coloration underneath.

The standard, modular tile format makes these tiles easy to incorporate into both traditional and contemporary designs, while the genuine copper-plated finish gives them a distinctive industrial, rustic, and artistic character. No special tools or materials are needed for installation, as they can be cut and installed in the same fashion as traditional ceramic and porcelain tile. We do recommend using unsanded grout and cleaning with warm, soapy water and a soft sponge.
