Handmade Copper-Plated Tile – Rusted Moon Patina

Bring the warmth and character of aged copper to your space with these handmade copper-plated tiles. Each copper sheet is put through our unique alchemical patina process using carefully curated organic compounds, heat, time, and hand-applied techniques to transform the copper surface, creating a rich combination of burnished copper, bronze, turquoise, teal, blue-green verdigris, and rich earthy tones.

This patina is inspired by the Arizona turquoise mines and is defined by its abundance of warm metallic copper. Broad fields of glowing orange and aged copper remain visible across the surface, while turquoise and teal oxidation appears in scattered clouds, delicate speckles, irregular veins, and weathered patches. The result has the character of ancient copper, Southwestern landscapes, desert rock formations, and metal naturally aged by decades of exposure to the elements.

The handcrafted patina develops differently across every tile, producing natural variations in color, texture, and pattern. No two pieces are exactly alike. When installed together, these variations create a dramatic surface with the depth and movement of naturally weathered copper.

Each tile is hand-hammered smooth around the edges, giving the piece a subtly worked, artisan finish. Finally, the surface and edges are sealed with a clear epoxy coating, preserving the patina underneath and giving it a durable, finished surface while enhancing the remarkable color and depth of the material.

The standard, modular tile format makes these tiles easy to incorporate into both traditional and contemporary designs, while the genuine copper-plated finish gives them a distinctive industrial, rustic, and artistic character. No special tools or materials are needed for installation, as they can be cut and installed in the same fashion as traditional ceramic and porcelain tile. We do recommend using unsanded grout and cleaning with warm, soapy water and a soft sponge.
