Artisan Made Tile – Moonshine Patina

Bring the smoky warmth and timeworn character of naturally aged copper into your space with these handmade copper-plated tiles. Each copper sheet is put through our unique alchemical patina process using carefully curated organic compounds, heat, time, and hand-applied techniques to transform the copper surface, creating a rich combination of aged copper, antique bronze, muted brass, smoky gold, olive bronze, warm amber, earthy brown, charcoal, and subtle traces of verdigris.

This patina is created through the same process as "Rusted Moon", but all the color is washed away, leaving layers of smoky bronze, tarnished brass, muted gold, and earthy brown, interrupted by areas of exposed copper and occasional hints of deep charcoal, mineral green, and blue-green oxidation. Unlike our more turquoise-forward patinas, this finish celebrates the natural warmth of copper, creating a sophisticated palette of earthy metallic tones. The warm, sophisticated palette works especially well in rustic, industrial, Old World, lodge, traditional, contemporary, and luxury interiors, pairing beautifully with natural wood, stone, leather, dark cabinetry, black accents, and other warm metals.

The handcrafted patina develops differently across every tile, producing natural variations in color, texture, and pattern. No two pieces are exactly alike. When installed together, these variations create a dramatic surface with the depth and movement of naturally weathered copper.

Each tile is hand-hammered smooth around the edges, giving the piece a subtly worked, artisan finish. Finally, the surface and edges are sealed with a clear epoxy coating, preserving the patina underneath and giving it a durable, finished surface while enhancing the copper, bronze, amber, and deep brown coloration underneath.

The standard, modular tile format makes these tiles easy to incorporate into both traditional and contemporary designs, while the genuine copper-plated finish gives them a distinctive industrial, rustic, and artistic character. No special tools or materials are needed for installation, as they can be cut and installed in the same fashion as traditional ceramic and porcelain tile. We do recommend using unsanded grout and cleaning with warm, soapy water and a soft sponge.
